As we put away the holiday season and look forward to the prospect of a new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of life I want to lead—one rooted in gratitude, simple joys, and being just a little better every day than I was the day before. Maybe it’s the quiet of winter, or maybe it’s the way the world softens under a layer of snow, but something about this season always nudges me to reflect more deeply.
One thing that keeps rising to the surface is a pull to give back in meaningful ways. Not just during the holidays when giving is on everyone’s mind, but all year long—month after month. I want generosity woven into the rhythm of my everyday life, just like kneading dough or pouring a new batch of soap.
And that’s what sparked an idea I’m excited to finally share:
Introducing the Rustic Roots & Simple Living Soap of the Month
Each month, I’ll be releasing a special limited-run soap—something seasonal, something fun, something crafted with intention. A portion of the sales from every month’s featured bar will be donated directly to the Stanberry Ministerial Alliance, an organization that quietly, faithfully helps folks in our community who are struggling.
They’re the kind of people who show up when someone needs help with food, utilities, emergency support, or just a reminder that they’re not alone. Supporting them feels like the right thing to do… and honestly, the good feeling that comes from helping others is something I want more of in my life.
Why This Matters to Me
Running Rustic Roots & Simple Living has become more than soap-making and recipes and herbal adventures—it’s become part of my own journey toward becoming a better human. I don’t get it right every day, but I’m trying to be more:
aware
grateful
generous
intentional
And giving back, even in small ways, feels like one of the most meaningful steps I can take.
Making soap is something I love. It’s creative, grounding, and full of purpose. But being able to turn that joy into something that helps others in my own community… that just makes it even more special.
What to Expect Each Month
Every month’s soap will have its own story—its own ingredients, its own scent, its own inspiration. In January, we kicked things off with Snowdrift Swirl, a crisp and refreshing bar perfect for the start of a new year. February brings a touch of warmth and sweetness with Rosemary & Vanilla. March will roll in with Irish Oats & Guinness. Each batch will be unique and a recipe I have been wanting to make. These special bars will be available at the Park Street Curiosity Shop in Stanberry.
But more importantly, each bar carries a purpose beyond the soap dish.
